The McMartin pre-school child abuse case was a classic example (and one of the first) of the "unintended consequences" of the hysteria about pedophiles that was whipped up in the mainstream press by antisexuals and sexophobes. Hundreds of children were traumatized by the investigation, dozens of adults sent to prison, and many lives were ruined.
