:::If they are collecting IP addresses (and they certainly are, in the case of those editing articles) then - yes, it is a ''big'' security risk. Can we have a "dereffer" like BoyChat does when people click on links there? Does that "dereffer" strip the users IP address when they access to Wikipedia?

Revision as of 17:02, 12 April 2015

I propose this template for deletion.

  1. It creates what appear to be internal BoyWiki links that lead to Wikipedia.
  2. This could be a security risk for some people.
  3. This is an all-around bad prictice. --Etenne (talk) 16:09, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

the security risk is that we are making an external link look like an internal link and some people might not click on that if they knew it leads directly to Wikipedia who well may be collecting ips. At this point, I would suggest treating Wikipedia the same way as a site like Evil Unveiled --Etenne (talk) 16:16, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I have removed this template pending further discussion. This really does bother me and I have to do what I feel is right for BoyWiki. This template my be OK for other sites but not for us. --Etenne (talk) 16:42, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
If they are collecting IP addresses (and they certainly are, in the case of those editing articles) then - yes, it is a big security risk. Can we have a "dereffer" like BoyChat does when people click on links there? Does that "dereffer" strip the users IP address when they access to Wikipedia?
