Currently, Ethos is owned by Zoomzoom4, with Lil Monster as Director and FalseAlias as Content Manager. Ethos was first owned by Kermie, but after Kermie's passing Dragonlover became owner. During mid 2017, Ethos was ownership was transferred from Dragonlover to Zoomzoom4, and Lil Monster was promoted from Assistant Director to Director.

Ethos is set to release issues every four months, stating that a release will be made in each April, August, and December.

Formed by Kermie in 2016, Ethos released issue one on September 15, 2016, and proceeded to release every three months up until early 2018 where problems with the Ethos host and unrelated staff issues caused issue 7 to be released two months late. The name of Ethos was chosen primarily because of its dictionary definitioncite: "The fundamental character or spirit of a culture".. The self-defined goal of Ethos is to "portray what is true about the orientation of Boylove" as part of "an effort to make society aware of the facts about REAL Boylovers".

The name of Ethos was chosen because it is

a noun meaning the characteristic spirit of a culture, era, or community as manifested in its attitudes and aspirations.

On October 6, 2016, Kermie passed away and ownership of Ethos was transferred to Dragonlover. The magazine continued to release going forward, despite the loss of its founder. An entry in Ethos 2 was dedicated to remembering Kermie. Following several months more of releases, Ethos ownership changed further when Dragonlover elected to place Zoomzoom4 as owner while he stepped back from the Ethos scene.

The goal of the magazine is to create a vision of the boylove community which will allow the reader to glimpse into it and perhaps one day accept boylovers as men who are not the monsters that the mainstream media makes them out to be.
At the beginning of February, 2018, the Ethos graphics manager decided to leave Ethos and the wider boylove community. Shortly later, Enchanted Island communicated to Ethos that they were going to close and that Ethos should backup all of the website data. Within 24 hours of Enchanted Island going down on March 3, 2018, Ethos was back online. Unfortunately, Enchanted Island was only one of three boards to go down within the first three months of 2018, and to remember all three Ethos published a piece at the beginning of Issue 7.

Ethos is volunteer-driven, and almost all of its content comes from the boylove community. The types of content accepted include stories, editorials, essays, reviews on books and movies, poetry, and more.
Ethos 8 released on August 27, 2018, and is notable primarily because it has been identified as the largest issue that Ethos has produced. Most issues of Ethos are within 20 to 30 pages, while issue 8 came to 44.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances involving the unfortunate closure of Enchanted Island in March 2018, and other staff issues at the beginning of February 2018, Ethos did not release issue seven according to its standard schedule. Ethos issue seven released publicly on May 27th, with announcements of the release appearing across several boylove boards. Ethos seven opened up with an article about the loss of BoyLover.org, YoungCity, and Enchanted Island.

Ethos Magazine released issue 8 on August 27, 2018, with advertisements starting in the boylove community just two days earlier. The issue is noted to be one of the largest Ethos has produced, spanning 44 pages, as well as one with the most content submitted from different authors, with 11 authors being credited for the content. Historically, content for Ethos has averaged between 20 and 30 pages.
The next release of Ethos is scheduled to release in December 2018.

Issue Eight of Ethos Magazine is available

Ethos Magazine is an online magazine published independently by members of the boylove community.

History

Formed by Kermie in 2016, Ethos released issue one on September 15, 2016, and proceeded to release every three months up until early 2018 where problems with the Ethos host and unrelated staff issues caused issue 7 to be released two months late. The name of Ethos was chosen primarily because of its dictionary definition[Citation needed]: "The fundamental character or spirit of a culture".[1]. The self-defined goal of Ethos is to "portray what is true about the orientation of Boylove" as part of "an effort to make society aware of the facts about REAL Boylovers".[2]

On October 6, 2016, Kermie passed away and ownership of Ethos was transferred to Dragonlover. The magazine continued to release going forward, despite the loss of its founder. An entry in Ethos 2 was dedicated to remembering Kermie.[3][4][5] Following several months more of releases, Ethos ownership changed further when Dragonlover elected to place Zoomzoom4 as owner while he stepped back from the Ethos scene.

Unfortunately, Enchanted Island was only one of three boards to go down within the first three months of 2018, and to remember all three Ethos published a piece at the beginning of Issue 7.[6]

Ethos 8 released on August 27, 2018, and is notable primarily because it has been identified as the largest issue that Ethos has produced. Most issues of Ethos are within 20 to 30 pages, while issue 8 came to 44.[7]

Release schedule

Since Ethos started, it was noted to have released on the 15th of every third month (March, June, September, December). When Ethos had to migrate host, a decision was made to amend the publication schedule to every fourth month (April, August, December)[Citation needed][8].

The next release of Ethos is scheduled to release in December 2018.

Volunteer driven

In the opening of issue 1, Dragonlover writes that "We are not professional writers"[2], and Ethos has been known to periodically advertise for content submissions from the wider community. The ads are usually images accompanied with text. On the Ethos website is additionally a page informing users of the types of content accepted and a non-exhaustive list of what will be rejected.[9]
