Dear Brigitte is a 1965 American DeLuxe Color family–comedy in CinemaScope starring James Stewart and directed by Henry Koster. It is based on the 1963 novel "Erasmus with Freckles".
Plot
The main character of the movie is Professor Leaf (James Stewart)'s son, a 10-year-old math-wiz named Erasmus (Bill Mumy), who is in love with Brigitte Bardot and begins writing love letters to her. Eventually Brigitte writes back and invites him to come to France to visit her.[1]
Factoids
- Bill Mumy, who played Erasmus, was the first American to have an on-screen kiss with Bardot. He describes her as "a fabulous kisser". In an interview, he also recounts looking down her dress at her cleavage as "a great view".[2]
- 20th Century Fox made the actors do the scene again because they thought Bardot was showing too much cleavage. They made her wear a corsage to cover her cleavage.
- Brigitte was 30 years old at the time of filming.
