How long did that take? |

Links to news articles and web pages often die quickly.
Links to news articles and web pages often die quickly.
News articles are sometimes put behind a "pay-wall" after a certain time, making them inaccessible.
Websites stop paying for being hosted, and their pages become unavailable.
Solution:
1) archive.org/web
- Put each article into the WayBack machine search engine. If the article or webpage is not yet saved to archive.org, then choose to save it. (It takes only a few seconds to do this.)
2) archive.is
- This is another service of archive.org, but different. Pages are saved, but not added to the regular archive.org site.
- Sometimes the WayBack machine will not offer to save a page, but the page can be saved at archive.is.
- archive.is then gives a special "short" url to access the saved page.
- again, it takes only a few seconds to do this.
- archive.is then gives a special "short" url to access the saved page.
If these precautions are not taken, then many articles posted on BoyWiki will soon become unavailable! This has happened with many sites and web pages listed on BoyLinks, even though they were long ago advised of this problem, and of the solution.
There are a few additional details to be added about using these two services, but I won't waste my time giving clear, precise instructions if this advisory is just going to be ignored (as many good suggestions seem to be). User4 (talk) 19:34, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
