Koan by Jay Edson is a fictional account of a man and the close relationship he develops with a young boy.
Publisher's description
Everybody likes Joe Michaud. He's a caring and decent men, popular with the Scout groups he helps, liked and trusted by their parents. He's especially close to one fatherless boy and his solo mother, at a time when the boy is desperately in need of a role model and champion.
But this story takes place in the 1980's, when the public came under the sway of the "Satanic Panic" and were quick to believe almost any evil of any person.
In Koan, Joe's friend and mentor, Father Demetrios Glyphis, narrates a series of events in which reality and fantasy become blurred, and life becomes a living nightmare from which people try to awaken.[1]
