Dr Jacob Breslow was forced resigned as trustee of transgender charity Mermaids after it was publicized that he spoke at a conference organized by the mental health advocacy group B4U-ACT, in 2011.Mermaids has recently come under fire in the UK for recommending in unsafe procedures be provided to transsexual youth.
Mermaids says the organization is "completely at odds" with B4U-ACT values of seeking to advocate for safe and effective mental health services for minor attracted people, provided in a way that ensures dignity and respect of the person seeking treatment.
