Talk:Milk and Cookies
From BoyWiki
There was a poster on BC in the recent past who posted with the nick Milk and Cookies however he made it known that he had chosen that nick based on the famous website. When asked if he was the site creator he was honest and said that he wasn't. I'm not sure how confusion can be prevented for future readers of this article though. --Fleetwood 23:18, 17 April 2006 (EDT)
- Well, I didn't write as much in my small section in which I spoke of M&Cs health but from what I gathered from Hopeful back in about the year 2,000, it is very unlikely that the original M&C is still alive. He was suffering from a progressively debilitating disease that is always fatal. By 2000 he was so ill that he appeared to be in the end stages of the disorder. But I hated to just write that he is presumably dead.--Jimf3 19:13, 18 April 2006 (EDT)
- Maybe to solve confusion one of the curators can rename the article to something like Milk and Cookies 1996 - 2000 which would help eliminate confusion. Hopeful was serving as a cog when I arrived on the board and I don't recall him ever announcing a death so I guess we can leave that part unwritten since no one really knows the outcome. --Fleetwood 22:31, 18 April 2006 (EDT)
- As long as the "new" Milk and Cookies isn't notable enough to warrant his own article on BoyWiki, we don't really need to clarify the distinction in the article title. If you expect confusion, I advise you to clarify matters in the existing article simply by mentioning that another poster by the same nick arrived a few years after the "old" Milk and Cookies was last seen.
- I'm curious as to how the new M&C was able to use the nick under BoyChat's authentication system. Also, I can't find him in the nicklist, which ostensibly is complete and includes unregistered posters. Perhaps the system was not yet in place when the old M&C posted, or maybe he never registered?
- I'm sorry to hear that the old M&C probably has passed away. According to Alexis, he sounds like quite the guy. People who can give so much while suffering from a debilitating disease deserve respect.

- Renaming the article would help to eliminate anyone in the future from editing the article again with mistaken information in confusion over the nicks. It's possible that the original M&C stopped posting before BoyChat had a registered poster function in the script. I found a Milk and Cookies in the BC nick list but it does not designate the older or more recent poster. --Fleetwood 02:22, 19 April 2006 (EDT)
- The article about the BoyChat Technical Committee that you edited today seems to indicate that the old M&C at least participated in the community before the authentication system, and may have become inactive before it was implemented.
- I believe it's best to leave article titles simple when possible. (Actually, there might be other articles with too-complex titles.) I think a note in the article will suffice for clearing up potential misunderstandings in the future. Indeed, I think I shall add it myself now.
