Category talk:Essential reading for BoyLovers
From BoyWiki
I wonder if in the future this category could be broken down into like: Category:Essential reading for BoyLovers/basic - Category:Essential reading for BoyLovers/intermediate - Category:Essential reading for BoyLovers/advanced. Some things just seem more "Essential" then others. --Etenne 12:49, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hmm... I see what you're saying. How do other wikis categorize their materials, keeping in mind the importance of making materials easy-to-find, keeping similar materials together, and allowing "sub-categories" to be created--to focus attention when necessary--by using the "magic" of html linking? - If I understand you correctly, the answer is: every wiki does it different but within the naming conventions. As to navigation, that is why internal linking is so important, that one entry logically leads you to the next then the next and so fourth. Other wikis use portals for this as well, where they feature the best articles in a particular main subject category. See Category:Portal index for a list of our existing portals. Another way is with the use of navboxes and sidebars to aide in navigation to related subject matter--Etenne 14:21, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- Gee... I hadn't considered that every wiki might be doing it differently. There are tens-of-thousands of wikis, so I have a hard time imagining that there are also tens-of-thousands of ways to categorize materials. There must be some basic methods of organizing materials, but with slight variations that would depend on each wiki, wouldn't you think? User4 (talk) 15:35, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
