Rape can be defined as any form of non-consensual sex, but often has violent connotations. The vast majority of people, including the boylove community, frown upon this activity.

Style guides for many major newspapers require that the word rape be used to refer to any type of sexual contact involving children who are below the age of consent. This can make it difficult to understand the exact nature of certain accusations.
