(Boylove Music Reviews) - Young Singer Songwriter Gone but Not Forgotten
by LtDreamer, April 16, 2016 The year is 2010, and it appears that Punk Rock has reached it's peak and started to decline in popularity. Started between 1974-1976, as garage bands in the United Kingdom, United States, and Australia, "Punk" as it was to become called was considered excesses of the mainstream of 70s Rock. Born April 12th, 2002, Nicolas Merritt refused to let go. He started playing at the age of 18 months, by sitting on his drummer father's lap, Chad Merritt, and keep time on the High Hat of his father's band, "16 Hour Drive". His father has stated that he has had his drum sticks in hand everyday since. Moving forward to age Six, Nicolas has written his own songs, enough for an entire album. "Punk Rock Elementary", Nicolas's first album, was recorded from Aug 2009 through December 2009. With all Vocals and Drums preformed by young Nicolas, his dad filled in with his guitar, and bass player Traa Daniels filled in the Bass line. Nicolas credits such greats as "Green Day", "Blink-182", and "Sublime" to his inspiration for music. After his first album released in February of 2010, he later that year in June, was able to join the band "Strung Out" on stage in Austin TX and play the drums on their song Scarecrow. Living with his family in Texas, he is currently attending school and avoiding the bright lights of show business. We can only hope that he still has the same enthusiasm about school as he did with the song First Day of School, from his first album. If he does he may well be the only student on the Deans List with a safety pin through his cheek in 2020. You can check out some of his videos on youtube and viemo. |
