Nick Dubin
Nick Dubin is a person with Asperger's syndrome who obtained a Master's degree in learning disabilities and a doctorate in psychology, and then was convicted of child pornography possession. He is the author of a series of books on bullying, managing anxiety, and coping with depression. Tony Attwood writes, in the introduction to The Autism Spectrum, Sexuality and the Law, "Nick has a remarkably positive personality. . . . He is also a very honourable and brave young man, who is by nature extraordinarily sensitive, possessing commendable tenacity and altruism."
Dubin himself writes, "Being charged with possession of child pornography is very different from being charged with a sexual contact offense. The idea of touching a child has never crossed my mind and the thought of doing so actually sickens me. . . . When the FBI agent came to question me, I responded with typical Asperger's honesty. 'You're here because I have child pornography on my computer?'"
